Keep owners and centre leaders connected

Good oversight should not depend on being in the same office. We can help establish useful reporting, clear escalation routes and regular leadership conversations. For owners managing from a distance or overseeing more than one service, the focus is on knowing what needs attention and who is responsible for the next step.

  • Create a consistent management reporting rhythm.
  • Review staffing evidence and operational risk registers.
  • Connect occupancy and cost reporting with service priorities.

Work from the WA requirements that apply

The Department of Communities regulates education and care services through its Education and Care Regulatory Unit, ECRU. WA participates in the National Quality Framework and has moved to an applied-law model while retaining WA-specific differences. National updates should therefore be checked against their application and commencement in WA.

Screening needs a WA-specific review of roles and requirements, including the Working with Children Check rules for childcare services. A team member’s interstate experience does not establish that every local screening requirement has been met. We can help organise the checks, records and responsibilities that underpin your staffing process.

The WA Reportable Conduct Scheme is overseen by the Ombudsman and includes childcare services. It creates organisational responsibilities for responding to allegations and reporting investigation outcomes. This pathway needs to sit alongside, rather than be confused with, education-and-care and other child-protection reporting.

Practical support across distance

We begin with the information your owners and director already use, then identify what is missing or difficult to maintain. An agreed scope can combine document review, leadership mentoring, operational planning and scheduled site work. Travel, availability and the right balance of onsite and remote support are discussed before an engagement begins.

For Western Australia centre owners

A little more
local clarity.

Can we use the same policy pack as our interstate centres?

A shared foundation can be useful, but it needs a WA review. Local variations, commencement arrangements, screening and reporting pathways must be checked. We can help identify where a national template needs service-specific adaptation.

Does a report to ECRU cover every child-safety reporting obligation?

Do not assume it does. The Ombudsman’s Reportable Conduct Scheme has its own requirements, alongside other applicable reporting duties. A clear escalation process should identify the relevant pathways and accountable people.

How would support work outside Perth?

We can discuss remote review sessions, leadership support and planned onsite work around your location and priorities. Visit frequency, travel arrangements and scope are agreed individually; we do not assume that every service needs the same delivery model.
